Some stories don’t fit inside a weekly blog post. Some grow roots, put out branches, and demand a world of their own. This page gathers the larger projects I’m slowly, joyfully shaping — ideas that follow me on walks, whisper in the back of my mind, and occasionally keep me awake far later than sensible.
The biggest of these is Elgon, a fantasy world inspired by landscapes I love, the myths that shaped me, and the quiet moments outdoors when imagination slips its leash.

Elgon: A World of Storm and Magic
Elgon began the way many of my best ideas do — on a walk, somewhere between a steep climb, a patch of heather, and a view that felt older than memory. What started as a single thought became a map, then a cast of characters, then a story rich with magic, ancestry, and the deep ties between people and the land they call home.
It’s a world shaped by wild forests, ancient powers, and a fragile balance between the realm of mortals and the mysteries beyond the Veil. At its heart are two young protagonists whose intertwined fates carry them from quiet beginnings into a struggle that threatens the whole kingdom.
Elgon is full of:
- Hidden magic
- Old forests and sacred places
- Noble houses vying for power
- Prophecy, ancestry, and the weight of history
- Courage found in unlikely hearts
Writing it is a long, winding adventure — part craft, part discovery, part stubborn joy.
Why I Write Elgon
In many ways, Elgon is an echo of the real landscapes that inspire me. The moors, the valleys, the shifting skies — they all find new shapes in this imagined realm. Writing it lets me explore the themes that tug at me during my walks: belonging, bravery, legacy, and the quiet strength of ordinary people thrust into extraordinary moments.
It’s also a place where I can chase the kinds of stories I love: ones filled with wonder, danger, and hope, all underpinned by the belief that even in the darkest chapters, light can be found.
A Slow and Lovely Process
Elgon isn’t being written in a hurry. I first sketched it out more than 20 years ago, but started it in anger a few months ago and it is now more than 60k words in length, It grows in the same way my blog does — through glimpses, scenes, sketches, and the steady layering of detail. Some ideas arrive fully formed; others drift in gradually, like mist settling through the pines.
Drafting a novel alongside everyday life is a gentle lesson in patience. Some weeks I write pages; other weeks, only a single line that feels right. But the world keeps expanding, shaped by imagination, curiosity, and the encouragement of the people who follow the story’s progress.

Other Projects
Alongside Elgon, my notebooks are full of half-started essays, nature writings, and ideas for future stories — some serious, some whimsical, all waiting to find their moment. One day they may become books, collections, or simply small sparks that light a new direction.
If You’re Curious…
I will share occasional snippets, world-building notes, character insights, and progress updates here on the blog. You’re welcome to follow along as Elgon continues to grow — from early drafts to finished chapters, and all the magic in between.
